How to Measure Your PD (Pupillary Distance)

How to Measure Your PD (Pupillary Distance)

Use our PD (Pupillary Distance) Ruler to easily measure your pupillary distance (PD).

Getting Started

Follow these simple steps to get an accurate measurement of your Pupillary Distance (PD):

  1. Step 1: Print the PD ruler on A4 paper (ensure it is printed at 100% scale).
  2. Step 2: Stand about 20 cm (8 inches) from the mirror.
  3. Step 3: Hold the ruler straight against your brow line, with the 0mm mark aligned with the center of your left pupil.
  4. Step 4: Look straight ahead into the mirror. Close your right eye and read the millimeter measurement at the center of your left pupil.
  5. Step 5: Now, close your left eye and open your right eye. Measure from the 0mm mark on the ruler to the center of your right pupil.
  6. Step 6: The total PD is the sum of the two measurements.

Take a few measurements for consistency.

Most adults have a PD between 54 - 74 mm. Most children have a PD between 43 - 54 mm.
